COLLECTIVE SOUND WORKSHOPS
2021, DOMAINE DE BOISBUCHET, FRANCE
CREDITS: BOISBUCHET TECHNICAL TEAM (CARLOS GUISASOLA SUAREZ, IÑIGO PUERTA)
TUTORS: PHILIP BEESLEY, ROD GORBET, ANNE PAXTON
This workshop was about sound, manmade and natural sound. They experimented in order to create a hybrid soundscape in an installation that achieved to bridge nature's orchestra with our artificially created sounds and tones. It was not about imitating but about listening, understanding and answering. They developed a new acoustic situation, operated with the support of technical and digital devices and installed at the interface of Boisbuchet's unique architecture and nature.
Together with Phillip Beesley we agreed to integrate the concept of sacred space into a three-part performance utilizing fire, light, sound (recorded soundscapes + voice) , textile and audio-kinetic sculptures.
The whole process’ duration was 10 days of work, finalized by a 15 minute performance.
During those days we were designing, assembling, coding, recording and rehearsing the final act, to be exhibited in an old medieval barn.
